Matthew Bullock
MA (Cambridge), Harvard Business School, Advanced Management Programme, Chair
Matthew has been Chief Executive of the Norwich and Peterborough Building Society for 12 years. Before that he had a broad banking career, spanning investment banking, credit risk management, retail banking and corporate banking at senior levels in the Barclays group. He is non-executive Chairman of the Automation Partnership Group PLC, a high-tech manufacturing company and a non-executive director of the Addenbrooke’s Hospital Foundation Trust in Cambridge. Matthew speaks French and Swedish.
Deborah Cameron
BA, MLitt, AcSS
Deborah is an academic and writer whose specialist subject is the English language. Since 1983 she has taught English and linguistics at universities in the UK, US and Sweden, as well as being involved in a number of programmes specifically for ELT professionals in Eastern Europe and in Malaysia. She is currently Professor of Language and Communication at the University of Oxford

Angela Dean
MA, DPhil (Oxon)
Angela has worked in international finance for over 25 years. As a managing director at Morgan Stanley since 1995, she specialised in technology companies and became Global Head of Technology Research. In 2005, she was appointed Director for Socially Responsible Investment. Angela has a doctorate in early 17th century politics.
Michael Elger
MA (Oxford), MBA (Insead)
Michael is Chief Executive of Three Raymond Buildings, a leading barristers’ chambers. Previously he worked as a corporate strategist at the Boston Consulting Group and as an investment banker at Lazard, where he was responsible for developing the firm’s mergers and acquisitions practice in the life sciences sector.
Carol Madison Graham
MA Arab Studies, MA History, Georgetown University
Carol is a former US diplomat who has worked in the field of international education for many years. She is a former Executive Director of the US UK Fulbright scholarships. She is a trustee of several organisations with an educational or social justice focus including the Carnegie UK Trust
. She has lived in a number of countries in the Middle East and Europe. Carol has a book and writes a blog for the study abroad market on intercultural issues.
Simon Greenall
Simon Greenall is an English Language Teaching textbook writer and past president of IATEFL (International Association of Teachers of English as a Foreign Language). He has published many books including exam material, adult and secondary courses, as well as radio and television programmes for the BBC. Since 2000 he has been co-editor in chief of textbook series for Chinese primary, junior high and senior high schools, and universities. He also works as a consultant to the ministry of education in Palestine on the teaching of English in state schools. He has given workshops and conference presentations in 45 countries.
Colin McMillan
Colin's links with IH date from the 1960's when a small group of like-minded language school owners from various countries in and around Europe met in Shaftesbury Avenue and formed a loose alliance which quickly grew into the IH World Organisation . His career has been in Portugal since 1963 when he founded his first school in Lisbon. Since then he has been involved in setting up or affiliating a further 10 schools in major cities in Portugal.
Gillian Murray
BA, MSc
Gillian took her diploma in Milan in 1986 and spent much of her career in language teaching and educational publishing in Italy. She spent three years in S.E. Asia with Voluntary Service Overseas, working as a trainer and at the Laos Ministry of Education. She is currently Deputy Chief Executive of Pilotlight
, a UK mentoring charity.
Maggie van Reenan
Maggie is an independent communications and marketing consultant and has served as an executive and non-executive board member across a range of activities including Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and currently the University of Plymouth. Born and educated in South Africa, her career started in librarianship and has included higher education.
Raul Valdivia
BA, MA, MSc
Raul is a specialist in education for global citizenship, social justice, sustainable development and human rights. His experience in running global education projects has included an international school linking initiative funded by DFID and aimed at raising awareness of global issues through modern foreign languages. Raul is a member of the Advisory Council of Think Global
, the umbrella body for all UK-based organisations supporting global learning in this country. He was born in Peru and started his career as a psychologist providing counselling to young people and their families. Raul holds an MSc. in Health Promotion and Health Education from the University of Edinburgh, and an MA in Global Citizenship, Human Rights and Identities from the University of Nottingham.
