Carla Arena, Brazil
By attending the IATEFL conference in Brighton, I'm sure it will help me better prepare myself to make the most out of the everyday challenges that are part of any educational setting by letting me stay updated, connected to the most recent trends in education and, more specifically, in the educational technology field, which is the area I supervise at the Binational Center I work for in Brasilia.
Therefore, I´m sure that by being able to attend the conference, I can keep networking with like-minded professionals, I can explore new ideas, share my own learning experiences and keep learning to adapt to my country's educational reality. I'll be able to add value and multiply the knowledge I gain from it with other educators in my school and country by contributing with comments in discussion lists, blog posts, tweets, presentations, articles, which are means of giving back to the community I'm part of all the knowledge and collaboration I gain during a conference. I can also go further in multiplying good practices and educational innovation through the organization of teachers' workshops at my school and local EFL teachers' associations, which I'm part of.
It will certainly give me new insights and different perspectives to think beyond our own physical teaching settings, amplifying the never-ending possibilities to enhance language learning through re-tooling ourselves and connecting to other educators around the globe.

English for work and the workplace - A mutant puzzle
It is puzzling to watch the supersonic speed at which technology is changing the global workplace, imposing heavy demands on English which has become a universal work tool. Yet the triangular relationship between the expectations of educators/employers, learners/ employees as well as parents/society, make of E4WP not only a puzzle, but one that is constantly undergoing mutation.
