CELTA Training (part time)

CELTA training (part time) is a qualification for people learning to teach English for the first time, or for people with previous teaching experience but no formal qualification. It is sometimes referred to as a TESOL certificate, TEFL teaching certificate, or ELT course.

Apply for the Part Time CELTA now.

CELTA training teaches you the principles of classroom management and teaching communication skills. You will learn how to teach English as a second language through hands-on teaching practice, regular written assignments, and on-going assessment by your trainer. Part time CELTA teacher training is ideal for people who can’t study during the working week.

Course overview

  • CELTA training (part time) runs for 12 weeks (minimum 120 hours). You can study on Monday and Wednesday evenings OR Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 18.30-21.30, plus six Saturdays from 10.00-17.00.
  • The CELTA certificate has two components of assessment: teaching practice (a total of six hours to at least two different levels), and four written assignments. To be awarded the certificate you must pass both components.
  • There are three pass grades: ‘Pass’, ‘Pass B’ and ‘Pass A’. As assessment is continuous, you will be given regular feedback on your progress.
  • The maximum class size is 18 candidates.
  • Applicants should be over 18 and competent when writing or speaking English.
  • CELTA is accredited by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) at Level 4 on the National Qualifications Framework.
  • You can apply for a part-time CELTA course at any time and, if offered a place, the offer is valid for up to a year after the date of interview.
  • From 2012, insurance cover is included in course fees for all face-to-face CELTA full-time and part-time students.
