IH Certificate in French Language Teaching to Adults (CLTA) Part-Time

The IH Certificate in French Language Teaching to Adults (CLTA) Part-Time is a practical, 11-week part-time course for native or near-native French speakers. The course is ideal if you want to teach French as a second language. You don’t need any previous experience: the course is designed for people who are new to teaching French as a foreign language.

Course overview

  • The part-time French language teaching course in January and October runs for 11 weeks on weekday evenings: Mondays (6.30-9pm), Tuesdays (6.30-9.30pm), Wednesdays (6.30-9.30pm) and Thursdays (6.30-9pm). 121 course hours in total.
  • The course in April runs for 12 weeks to make up for banks holidays in April, May and June.

  • The course includes lots of real-life practise of teaching in French. You will take classes of different levels, with follow up feedback and discussion sessions to help you learn and improve. You will also observe qualified teachers, learn about classroom management, and find out how to plan lessons.
  • The course will teach you the principles of effective teaching and give you a range of practical skills for teaching French to adults.
  • There are five students per language class.
  • The minimum age for acceptance onto this course is 18 years old.
