Distance Delta
Distance Delta is a unique English teaching programme developed by International House London and the British Council.
It is ideal for experienced, practicing second language English teachers who want to carry on working while studying for a further English teaching qualification.
Distance Delta covers all aspects of the Cambridge English modular syllabus and is assessed to the same standard. There is a dedicated Distance Delta website for each course with discussion group work monitored by experienced Delta tutors and supporting resources.
Distance Delta course requirements
The Cambridge Delta is a qualification for practising teachers in the field of ELT.
In accordance with guidelines laid out in the Cambridge English Delta Handbook, it is highly advisable that candidates following the programmes have the following:
- a first degree
- an initial ELT qualification
- a minimum of 2 years full time (1200 hours) teaching experience of ELT within the past 5 years
- a range of teaching experience working in different teaching contexts and teaching different levels
- appropriate awareness of language and language competence in English sufficient to follow the programme and complete all assessed elements successfully

Integrated Programme/Modules 1, 2, 3
Covers all three Cambridge modules and extends your knowledge of language, background theory and resources to inform your classroom practice.

Module 1

Blended Programme
The Blended Distance Delta programme combines a face-to-face Cambridge Module 2 course, available as either an Intensive or Extensive Option, with Cambridge Modules 1 and 3 at distance.
Intensive option
Intensive 6 week face-to-face Module 2 course with Modules 1 and 3 at distance. Modules can be done in any order.
Intensive option is offered between mid January to late February 2017 and mid July to late August 2017. Classes are from Monday to Friday with three hours of workshops, seminars, lectures and guided written work and 2.5 hours of teaching practice daily.
Extensive option
Extensive 16 week part-time face-to-face Module 2 course delivered at IH London with Modules 1 and 3 at distance.
Available February to May, classes are two evenings a week 6.30-9.30 pm and comprise seminars, lectures and guided written work or teaching practice.
