This is a skills development course for teachers with experience, and those who complete it successfully will have an excellent position in an ever-specialising ELT market. English UK (formerly ARELS) provides moderation for this qualification, which was established by the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry Examinations Board.
The course is aimed at
Practising teachers with a first degree, a relevant teaching qualification and one year’s English Language Teaching experience
The course will be appropriate both for general English teachers, and people from the business world (ELT qualified) who wish to move into business English teaching
The course aims to assist teachers of general English to acquire a good working range of knowledge and practical skills necessary for the effective teaching of English for Business. It is not intended for those with substantial experience in teaching English for Business or for those who already have the LCCI FTBE. Assessment is via a post-course assignment.

Differences between General and Business English contexts
Characteristics of business learners
Needs analysis and course design
The language of business English
Approaches and methods in business English teaching, including lexical approaches, case studies and simulations
The world of business – topics, terms and concepts
Teaching business communication skills: meetings, negotiations, telephoning and presentations, etc
Using published and authentic materials
Dealing with business writing: correspondence and reports
Working in-company
One to One Teaching
Teaching for business English exams
Entry requirements
Prospective participant must have:
one year's ELT experience, ideally some in Business English
minimum level of English: Cambridge Proficiency/Council of Europe C.2
