This course is aimed at:
English language teachers who work with children and teenagers aged 10-15
The course concentrates on:
providing a wide selection of practical, teaching ideas
helping participants to become more confident in their own use of English
exploring the differences between teaching younger learners and adults
examining the differences between teaching children (10-12 years) and teenagers (13-15 years)
considering ways of adapting communicative methodology to suit the needs of younger learners
evaluating and devising a range of materials for this age group
providing a wide selection of practical teaching ideas
helping participants to become more confident in their use of English
By the end of the course participants will have looked at:
relevant aspects of children’s development
approaches to presenting and practising language
techniques for improving students’ pronunciation
effective classroom management
principles for the selection, evaluation and development of materials
self-access for younger learners
Other topics may be added to the core syllabus, depending on the needs and interests of the course participants, such as: project work for younger learners, using songs in class, techniques for using video
Entry requirements
Minimum level of English required is Cambridge First Certificate
