Cambridge Exam Standard Preparation Course - FCE

Our Cambridge examinations courses are designed for long-term students who want a certificate of proficiency in English.

Cambridge Exam Preparation Courses are divided into three levels of study: Cambridge ESOL First Certificate in English (FCE); Certificate in Advanced English (CAE); and Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE). Courses are for upper intermediates (CEF B2) through to advanced (CEF C2) students, and you will need to complete an entrance test before starting the course.

Course overview

  • First Certificate in English (FCE) is for upper intermediate students who want to push their language skills further..
  • The course will help you practise English language skills and exam techniques needed to pass the First Certificate in English. A practice exam is included as part of the course.
  • 15 lessons per week (55 minutes each), for 9, 10 or 11 weeks depending on the start date. Lessons are Monday to Friday from 1.15-4.15pm with a 15 minute break. Total lesson time each week: 13 hours and 45 minutes.
  • Minimum age is 16 years old.
  • The maximum class size is 14 students.
  • Expect to receive at least two hours of homework every evening.
  • You can also sit your Cambridge English Language Skills (CELS) certificate at IH London, although there is no course for this certificate.
  • Please note this course does not meet the requirements for a General Student Visa (GSV).
