The Professional Internship Programme allow students to combine an intensive English course at International House with the opportunity to practice English in a professional environment linked to their area of studies or career.

Course options

International House

You can choose between 5 full-time work placement programmes, where the work experience is "sandwiched" between two periods of English at International House London. Choose from 8 weeks, 12 weeks, 16 weeks, 20 weeks and 24 weeks programmes

    General English   Work Experience

Candidate profile

International House
  • Minimum age: 18 years old. Maximum age: 28 years old
  • Upper Intermediate level of English or above (Cambridge First Certificate level or above)
  • Mature, confident and outgoing personality
  • Reliable, hard-working and motivated
  • The programme is open to EEA students EEA students (the European Economic Area includes the following countries: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom, Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein) and non-EEA students non-EEA students

    If you are from a non-EEA country, you need to hold a STUDENT VISA. Students with a visitors' visa ARE NOT ALLOWED to follow an English Plus Work Experience programme

    You can apply for a student visa from the Home Office in Croydon. See members of Reception staff for details, or visit Home Office website at http://www.ind.homeoffice.gov.uk/. Students do not require a work permit.

    International House

    At the end of the programme students will receive a Certificate in Work Experience.

    Students also have the opportunity to write a report on the company, which the teacher will assess during the last 2 weeks of the course.
