Language Development

IH London’s online language development programmes focus on helping trainees to develop their knowledge of the language systems that teachers need to plan and deliver effective lessons.

TKT- KAL (Teaching Knowledge Test - Knowledge about Language)

This 12-week course is made up of 12 online training modules. You will focus on developing your knowledge of the language systems that teachers need to plan and deliver effective lessons. You will also look at the teacher’s awareness of the language needs of learners, and the difficulties involved in learning a second language. The exam areas of lexis, phonology, grammar and discourse will be covered during the course.

This course is also useful preparation for experienced teachers who want to improve their language awareness in preparation for taking a Delta course.
This course will prepare you for the Cambridge TKT-KAL qualification. The examination consists of a single paper lasting 1 hour and 20 minutes and containing 80 questions.

The TKT KAL exam can be taken at any Cambridge Examinations Centre.
