Modern Languages FAQs
Do I need insurance to study at International House?
School fees are not refundable or transferable, so we strongly recommend that you take out comprehensive insurance which covers the reimbursement of fees.
International House has negotiated favourable rates with C3 - Allianz Insurance Plc. They offer insurance that is tailor-made for English language students.

I have a question regarding Practice Lessons, what should I do?
You need to go to the Practice Lessons desk (ground floor – end of the corridor) during opening hours (Tuesdays 3 - 6pm; Wednesdays and Thursdays 12.45 to 3.45pm).
Can you give advice on Visas?
We are not authorised or qualified to give advice on Visas. If you are having difficulties in filling out the form or understanding Visa issues, please see an Immigration or Visa adviser. You may find the Home Office website helpful.
I need to extend my visa. What do I need?
First check which visa you have now. If it’s a Tourist or Student Visitor Visa you will have to go back to your country and apply for a new Visa. If you have a General Student Visa you should download the application form from the Home Office website. You can request an attendance letter from International House and the supporting letter for a Visa extension (if you are extending your course at IH).
When do I receive my certificate?
Your teacher should give it to you on the last day of your course. If this doesn’t happen students can come to Reception and ask for a ‘Document Request Form’. Please note that this takes 5 working days to be issued.
