Chinese Survival Course
Our Chinese Survival Course is for people learning Chinese for the first time. Over five weeks, you will learn basic Mandarin words and phrases to help you get more out of a holiday or business trip. Lessons are dynamic and interactive, with your teacher speaking Chinese and using props and pictures to help you understand.
The Survival course is the equivalent of our Beginners Chinese General Programme .

Survival Chinese course overview
- The Survival Chinese language course focuses on the practical language skills you need for travelling and socialising. Each lesson develops a language skill for a different tourist scenario.
- The course runs on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6.30-8.30pm for five weeks (20 lessons).
- The average class size is 6-8 students (maximum 14) and the minimum entry age is 16 years old.

Take our online test to discover your language level and ability. We will also assess you in lesson one to make sure you are studying at the right level with students of a similar ability.
How we teach
Learning a language at International House London focuses on speaking and doing rather than book learning. From lesson one your teacher will speak to you in the target language. Pictures, role play, props and film will help you understand quickly, making the learning experience dynamic and enjoyable. All our teachers are native speakers so you'll have the added benefit of an authentic insight into the culture and countries behind the language.
