General English

International House runs a wide range of full and part time General English courses in London for people wanting to learn English as a foreign language.

Our English language school focuses on learning through using and speaking English. General English courses teach you the English vocabulary you need for everyday use. Your teacher will give you tasks both in and outside the classroom to practise English in a variety of social situations.

Daytime English Courses

The School of English offers three different daytime English group courses depending on how much you want to study:

• Standard General English (15 lessons a week)
• Standard Plus General English (20 lessons a week)
• Intensive General English (25 lessons a week)

Evening English Courses

Evening English courses are a good option for people who work full-time, who need to fit their studies around other commitments. You can take an evening English course for four, eight or twelve weeks.

University Foundation Courses

IH London’s University Foundation Courses in Law , Business or Engineering are for international students who want to study at a British university. The University Foundation helps you develop the academic and English language skills you need to join an undergraduate degree with native English speakers.

Study English One-to-one

Studying English one-to-one is an effective way to make fast progress or practise specific English language skills. You can combine one-to-one English lessons with a group English course, so that you get the experience of learning English with other students as well.
