Pre-Foundation Course

To join our Nine or Six-month University Foundation Programmes you must have a level of competence in English equivalent to an IELTS test score of 5.0. If you are not at that level, then you will need to take our Pre-Foundation Programme. This course develops your English language skills, preparing you for an IELTS test in December.

Course overview

  • The Pre-Foundation Programme is a 12 week intensive course with 25 hours of teaching per week.
  • To join this course you must have a competence in English equivalent to an IELTS test score of 4.0 or 4.5 (lower intermediate or higher).
  • Students who achieve an IELTS score of 5.0 in the December test can then join the Six-month University Foundation Programme in January.
  • Maximum group size is 15 students.
  • Minimum entry age is 16 years old.

At International House London, we focus on communication and speaking, with student to student interaction being used rather than a more traditional lecturing approach. This makes our English and Modern Language courses both exciting and rewarding, with progress being made very quickly.
