International House London will be opening a new English language summer centre for young learners in the North West of England, Ellesmere, in 2014.

Due to the huge popularity of the IH Oxford spring and summer programmes at St Edward’s school, International House London will be launching a second summer centre at Ellesmere College in 2014.

The IH Ellesmere summer centre will provide students from around the world with the opportunity to experience life at one the UKs top boarding schools.

As well as developing their English language skills in daily English sessions with International House teachers, students will be able to choose from a range of professionally coached activities from drama and dance to sailing, canoeing and kayaking, football, tennis, golf, basketball and horse riding to art, design and photography. All activities are delivered in English and students will work in teams with English as the common language.

In addition to summer centre based classes and activities there will be a number of trips to nearby places of interest including Liverpool, Manchester, Chester and Snowdonia National Park.  Students will also be able to join excursions to London, Edinburgh and Oxford with the option of over-night stays in London and Edinburgh.

Classes, activities and accommodation at the Ellesmere summer centre are all split by age group: 8 -11 year old students board and study separately to the 12 – 17 year old students. All students are supervised 24 hours a day by fully qualified and vetted staff.

Steve Brent, Director of International House London said:

“We’re thrilled to extend our summer centre to such a beautiful part of the country, only one hour away from Manchester, and to offer our English programmes to a wider age group.

We know that young teenagers and children learn more rapidly if they are stimulated and engaged. Offering such a wide range of coached activities to young learners not only helps enormously with their English language skills it also provides them with the opportunity to form firm friendships with other young people from all over the world.”

IH Ellesmere summer centre will open its doors on 09 July 2014. Courses can be booked for 2 to 6 weeks.
