UIC publishes new article on IH London's CELT-S Teacher Training Programme in China
The Academy of Continuing Education (ACE) has teamed up with the English Language Centre (ELC) to cooperate with International House London providing the first CELT-S Cambridge training course in China. IH London are working closely with Beijing Normal University - Hong Kong Baptist University United International College for the delivery of this training session.
Leading trainer Martin Oetegenn from International House London travelled from London to Zhuhai to train and supervise the local trainers for delivering the actual training a few days before the introduction.
Some of the activities conducted included:
- Looking at formative and summative observations and at the written feedback the trainers were giving.
- Exploring varied materials and looking at the differences between teaching students and training teachers.
‘It's been really exciting bringing CELT-S to China for the first time. UIC is a fantastic organisation and the trainers I've been working with this week are excellent. I'm very confident that the teachers on this program are going to make great progress over the next 6 months.’ - Martin Oetegenn
Martin is delivering a Train the Trainer course lasting 10 days which includes an induction to CELT-S and standardisation.

More about CELT-S
CELT-S is a practical English teaching qualification that gives teachers the relevant skills to get the best from 11–18 year old learners.
The course helps teachers to create strategies for the key challenges of teaching English as a foreign language (TEFL) in a secondary school context, such as classroom management with large classes and motivating learners.
