Meet The Team

Colin Paton

Head of E-learning

Colin is Head of E-learning at IH London and is responsible for all IH London's online and blended programmes. He holds an MA in Online Education as well as the Dip TEFLA.

Colin joined IH London in 2011. Before this he designed and developed national e-learning programmes for the health and social care sectors in the UK. Colin has worked with e-learning since the mid-1990s and founded one of the first online language schools in 1997.

Colin has worked across most of Latin America as well as Egypt, Russia and Portugal.

Maureen McGarvey

E-learning Programme Development Manager

Maureen is Programme Development Manager, with particular responsibility for the Online Management Training modules. She has the Dip TEFLA and is also a CELTA trainer.

Maureen has worked within the International House organisation for over twenty years. Her areas of special interest are academic management training and distance learning. She wrote the online management training modules offered by IH London, and also wrote the Educational Management module for the MSc in TESOL/TESP at Aston University. She has taught and trained in the UK, Spain, Hungary, Russia and France.

Paulette Milego

Distance Delta Programme Manager

Paulette is Distance Delta Programme Manager, with responsibility for maintaining and developing the programme. She is a CELTA and Delta trainer and also works for Cambridge ESOL as a Delta Module One Exam writer and Team leader for Exam markers and Module 2 Assessor and Moderator.

Paulette joined IH London almost 20 years ago. Her interest in distance learning started with work on the original Diploma Distance Training Programme and she has also worked on the IH Educational Management Programme as well as the Distance Delta.

She has taught and trained in Turkey, Spain, Brazil, Kenya and Moscow.

Bob Merckel

E-learning Developer

Bob is our eLearning Developer. When he’s not writing, developing or teaching online and blended courses, he’s looking for ways to help fellow teachers integrate technology into their day-to-day classroom activities. He was written materials and/or provided support for a number of online courses, including e-Moderation, online TKT training and the Blended CELTA. Prior to focusing full-time on eLearning he taught Business and General English classes at IH London. He is also a qualified Aviation English examiner.

He holds a BA in English Literature from the University of New Orleans and an MA in Creative Writing (Novels) from City University, London. He earned his language teaching qualifications with IH London and the Cert IBET with The Consultants-E.

Prior to his career in EFL, he spent a number of years a Marketing Communications and Brand Manager for an international asset management company, where he managed, amongst other things, the development of websites, presentation training and various technology integration projects.

Natalie Gunn

E-learning Administrator

Natalie is from New Zealand and has recently moved to London from Sydney, where she was working in Distance Education for an education provider, so she is used helping distance students with the kind of issues they face. She likes History and enjoys travelling. Apart from living previously in the UK, Natalie has also lived in Brazil and travelled in Europe.
