UFP Student Testimonials

Quan Wang, China

IH London Business Foundation Course, 2010 - 2011

null"I was a student of UFP between 2010-2011 in International House. I am now a fresher studying International Business in Leeds.

I have to say I really enjoyed my year in UFP. First of all, it has got the greatest location. It was my father who decided to let me join this foundation program, I remembered he said that this UFP would be a great beginning for my studying in the UK because he wanted me to see the world much more and to learn the advanced ideas from developed countries. Meanwhile, London is such a huge, international and developed city, it has such a big heart to accept people from all over the world, it has got a lot of different cultures which are very interesting to know about. Also, speaking of the location of IH in London, it is very central, and it has got all the banks, restaurants and shops nearby. Honestly, living in London has been a precious memory to me, I have seen and learnt a lot in London this year.

Secondly, teachers are excellent. We had maths teachers and physics teachers from Imperial College, and we had business and finance teachers from London Metropolitan University. English teachers are mostly examiners from IELTS. Without a doubt student will receive great education from it.

IH London has got advanced technology to help teachers teaching, it is efficient and also make the class more interesting. The building is very new, it has got a cafeteria in it and students are free to use computers in the internet access area.
If you are thinking of getting in a top university in the UK, IH London UFP is definitely for you. You will get great opportunities and help here!"

Nuri Ha, Korea

IH London Business Foundation Course, 2010 - 2011

null"I'm pleased to say that studying at IH can give you such a great opportunity for your future.

Tutors and coordinators are willing to help students as they sincerely listen to you, even the staff at reception are so friendly. Even though I was only one Korean student in UFP, I could get along really well with a strong friendship among us.
Now, I'm studying on the course of Banking & International Finance in Cass Business School, City University. It is undoubtedly hard to survive in a highly advanced business school, however, thanks to the gamut of studies at IH, I've kept on quite high grades.

With my earlier experience, I can tell you that wherever you go, whatever you do, whenever you start up, all depends on you. Don't miss this opportunity you are grabbing and try to do your best on studies!"

Wensi Gao, China

IH London Engineering Foundation Course, 2010

Wensi Gao - UFP student"I was an IH London UFP Engineering Course student from January to July. During that time, I learnt a lot more than I expected. First of all, my English improved so much - not only speaking, but also writing, listening and reading skills. Secondly, I’ve achieved the level of mathematics and physics I need to catch up with other students (I used to study Arts as my major).

I had never studied with other international or foreign classmate before, so I was quite nervous. But when the course started, I was surprised because the atmosphere was great and the teachers were kind and patient. They explain details again and again until all the students understand the question.

Over half a year of study I began to love this place – every day was full of happiness. And I found I could easily use English to make new friends. As well as teaching us about our subjects, our teachers also gave us knowledge about daily life, which was not written in the books and was useful.

Thanks to all the teachers at IH. They may forget me because they’ve got many new students every year but I will keep their names in my mind forever."

Wasim Berbash - UFP student

"I studied the University Foundation Program in Business at International House London.

It was such a good experience for me because I had very good tutors teaching me business modules as well as mathematics and IT.

The program was designed very well, especially for international students. Students get a good knowledge about university life, and at IH is it easy for students to adjust to social life in London by making new friends from other countries."

Ahmed Salamah

IH London Business Foundation Course, 2009 - 2010

Ahmed studied UFP in Business from 2009 - 2010

"My decision to study UFP in Business at IH London was one of the best decisions that I made this year.

My experience at the classes was fully informative and enjoyable at the same time. The classes had been focused in transferring the important information and basic business concepts that help you to be prepared at the university time. The learning environment was very metropolitan and exciting.

In fact,I am using all the knowledge that I have had in UFP almost in each module of my first year in Kent. I really appreciate my experience at IH London and highly recommend it for all undergraduate overseas students."

Safaa Mahboub

IH London Business Foundation Course, 2009

Safaa studied UFP in Business at IH London in 2009

"I started my University Foundation Programme (UFP) at International House, London in January 2009. I've been studying Business Foundation which include 5 subjects: English class in the mornings , Maths class on Monday and Tuesday afternoon with the best teacher I ever had, Dr Ravji.

Accounting and Economy classes on Wednesday afternoon with Chandres and finally Business class with Kat on Thursday afternoon. Foundation year was the most amazing experience I ever had in my life; I met people from different countries and cultures. The year was full of motivation and learning; everybody was friendly and helpful.

The thing I really liked in IH London is the relationship between teachers and students, it wasn't formal, it was friendship with total respect. I won’t regret or forget any minute I spent in IH London. The best souvenirs and the best moments with the best people I ever knew.

Business foundation was the first step for me to go to university, it was the first learning of basic knowledge in Maths, Accounting, Business and Economy. IH gave me the opportunity to join university with a solid knowledge; my level in the university was higher than other international students. I am in my second year at university, I am studying Bachelor Degree in Business Management, because of what IH London gave me as knowledge and experience, I didn't have any problem at the beginning of University. My marks doesn’t go under B, I am so happy and so proud that I was one of the students at IH London."

Mansour Abdulghaffar, Saudi Arabia

IH London Business Foundation Course, 2006 - 2007

Mansour Abdulghaffar - UFP student"In 2006, I joined IH London on their UFP course to gain entry to a UK University; as per the admission requirements of international students. After studying at IH, I chose to study BSc Business Information Technology at the University of Westminster, which I graduated from in July 2010 with an Upper-Second Class Honours Degree. In September 2010, I enrolled on a new and very exciting course at the world-renowned University College London on their MSc in Technology Entrepreneurship. Currently, I am working on developing my entrepreneurial skills whilst on this course and look forward to launching my first venture in the very near future.

My time at IH London can best be described as one of the best experiences I had in the UK; especially being able to meet and socialise people from all over the world (International House really does live up to its name!)

Academically speaking the course itself was superb. I believe it has equipped me well with the all the skills and knowledge I required to study (and excel) at a UK higher education institution. And to this day, during my masters, I still make use of the many skills learnt whilst on the UFP at IH (some of which no text-book will teach you)."

Hamzah Laimon, Jordan

IH London Engineering Foundation Course, 2005

Hamzah Laimon - UFP student"In 2004, I decided to attain my university degree in the UK. Although my knowledge of English was at an intermediate level, I had never studied any scientific topics (e.g. Physics, Maths etc) in English. Therefore, I joined International House’s University Foundation Program. The UFP was very successful in bridging the gap between my previous education and the English language. The courses I took in Engineering were very comprehensive and proved useful, especially during my first year at university.

Upon finishing my course at International House, I enrolled in King’s College London, one of Britain’s best universities and ranked in the top 25 Universities in the world. I graduated in 2009 with First Class Honours in Mechatronics with an MEng degree. I participated in the first ever Reconfigurable Mechanisms and Robotics conference. I have also written a paper on robotic hand control and presented it at the ASME 2010 conference in Canada. I currently work as senior field engineer in Saudi Arabia for a company that provides educational solutions, curriculum buildings and laboratory equipment.

I will never forget the best year of my life at International House London. The educational preparation was great, but more importantly, a friendly, multi-cultural, harmonious atmosphere was truly personified at the institution. I will always remember this place and the people that I met there."
