University Foundation Programme in Business

As well as the compulsory English Language Module, you can also choose to study the following Business options as part of your University Foundation Programme.

Basic Maths with IT (double module)

This course provides you with a range of IT skills that you'll need to use at university. It also provides a firm grounding in intermediate maths, which you'll need for a UK business degree course.

Business module one: Economics and Finance

This module gives you a solid foundation in macroeconomics and financial accounting. It's great for overseas students who want to study business, finance or accounting at a UK university. The course includes:

  • Macroeconomics: how domestic and international economic change affects business organisations
  • Financial accounting: introducing non-specialist students to basic financial and management accounting skills and techniques
  • Familiarising students with the use, analysis and interpretation of accounting statements, as well as the preparation of financial statements.

Business module 2: The Business Environment

This module introduces you to issues and controversies in the current business environment. It provides an introduction to:

  • Debates raised in the global economy relating to ethical issues in the UK market
  • The framework of the present business environment in the European Union
  • The module also seeks to improve your study skills within a business context, allowing you to progress onto a number of different business degree courses.
