New Law module
International House London's brand new Foundation Programme in Law is a fantastic entry point to an undergraduate Law degree. Offered in partnership with the prestigious University of Buckingham , students who complete the course can enter the University of Buckingham's fast-track two-year Law degree.
This brand new UFP starts in September 2009 and lasts 9 months. Like the other UFP programmes, it includes an English Language module to help you reach an IELTS band score of 6.5, as well as preparing you for a UK university degree programme.
The Law module runs for three terms, introducing you to core legal subjects and providing an excellent foundation for an undergraduate Law degree.
You'll learn analytical skills needed to evaluate legal problems, and how to construct legal arguments. Your studies will focus on six major areas of law:
- Legal Method & Skills
(Using legal materials and resources for problem-solving and analysis) - Introduction to the English Legal System
- Introduction to the Law of Contract
- Introduction to Tort Law
- Introduction to Criminal Law
- Introduction to European Union Law
Students who complete the UFP can progress directly to the University of Buckingham's two-year undergraduate Law degree. High academic standards and practical teaching mean Buckingham is one of the most respected Law Schools in the country: one of the top twenty in the Guardian's league table (2007).
