Practice English

Improve your English language skills with English Practice Lessons at International House London’s Teacher Training Department. Classes are taught by student teachers who will help you practice speaking and writing English. Student teachers are supervised by an experienced teacher and there are five teachers in each class. Practice English lessons are a valuable and low-cost way for you to practise English language skills.

Test Information

Interview Hours
Mondays: 16.00 - 17.00
Tuesday – Friday: 14.15 - 15.15

What to bring:

  1. Some form of identification which bears your name and photograph (e.g. your passport or Identity Card or, if you are a refugee, Home Office and Immigration document SAL 1)
  2. Payment (cash or cheques only)

Whether we have a class for you depends on your level and on the availability of places. All fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Course Information

FULL-TIME (4-week afternoon course)

Time: Monday to Friday from 13.30 - 15.30 or 16.00 - 18.00
Levels: Pre-Intermediate to Upper-Intermediate (not all of these levels are available each month)
Next Course Dates: 01.09.10, 28.09.10, 26.10.10 and 23.11.10.
Price: £40.00 for 4 weeks (Refugees £20.00 for 4 weeks)

PART-TIME (8-week evening course)

Time: Twice a week from 18.30 – 20.30
(Mondays and Wednesdays OR Tuesdays and Thursdays)
Next Course Dates: 07.09.10 at Pre-intermediate level
Price: £40.00 for 8 weeks (Refugees £20.00 for 8 weeks)

Registration and Attendance

Once you have taken the test (see above) come to the Practice Lessons Desk during the following opening times:

Mondays: 15.00 – 18.00
Tuesday – Friday: 12.30 – 15.30

Please note that it is NOT possible to register by telephone

To avoid losing your place, it is very important that you:

  • Attend your class every day
  • Arrive on time
  • Carry your Enrolment Card at all times.
