English practice lessons

Our English Practice lessons are a great way to develop and improve your English language skills. Lessons provide a low-cost way for you to practice your English.

English Practice lessons are supervised by an experienced English language teacher and taught by student English language teachers. There are five student teachers in each class.

Book English Practice Lessons

You can book a place on our English Practice course in person at International House London at the Practice Lessons Desk in the ground floor reception area.

Practice lesson desk opening hours:
Mondays: 15.00 - 17.30
Tuesday to Friday: 12.30 - 15.30

English Language Level Test

All new students must take a level test before registering. The test can be taken at the Practice Lessons desk.

The test is a short conversation in which we assess your speaking ability.

To book a place on the course you will need to bring some form of identification which shows your name and photograph (eg your passport or Identity Card or, if you are a refugee, Home Office and Immigration document SAL 1)

Course payment can only be made by cash. Your acceptance to a class depends on your level and the availability of places. All fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.

English Practice course details

Full time (four-week afternoon course)

• Time: Monday to Friday from 13.30 - 15.30 or 16.00 - 18.00
• Language levels: Pre-Intermediate to Upper-Intermediate (not all of these levels are available each month)
• Course Dates: 11 June 2013 (registration opens 21 March 2013), 9 July 2013, 6 August 2013, 3 September 2013
• Price: £50.00 for 4 weeks (Refugees £20.00 for 4 weeks)

Part-time (four-week or eight-week evening course)

• Time: Twice a week from 18.30 - 20.30
• Level: Upper-intermediate
• Course Date: 24 June (8 weeks - 4 weeks Mon and Wed + 4 weeks Tues and Thu)
• Level: Pre-intermediate
• Course Date: 13 May (8 weeks - 4 weeks Mon and Wed + 4 weeks Tues and Thu) - spaces still available - 24 June (8 weeks - 4 weeks Mon and Wed + 4 weeks Tues and Thu) - registration opens 3 June
  
• Price: £50 for 8 weeks; £30 for 4 weeks
