Do I need insurance to study English at IH London?

School fees are not refundable or transferable, so we strongly recommend that you take out comprehensive insurance which covers the reimbursement of fees.

How do I find out about English Language Practice Lessons?

You need to go to the Practice Lessons desk (ground floor – end of the corridor) during opening hours (Mondays 15.00 - 18.00; Tuesday to Friday 12.30 to 15.30).

When do I receive my English course certificate?

Your teacher should give it to you on the last day of your course. If this doesn’t happen students can come to Reception and ask for a ‘Document Request Form’. Please note that this takes 5 working days to be issued.

How do I contact my English teacher?

Please try to speak to your teacher when you are in class. If you urgently need to speak to a teacher outside class hours, please come to Reception and we will call the staffroom and see if they are available. Please note, Reception do not hold contact details of teachers when they are not in the school.

Who do I speak to about attendance at IH London?

Please see the General English Administrator (ground floor – office next to Reception) on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 12:30 to 13:30.

What should I do if I can't attend an English class?

Students are allowed 20% absence over the course, so if you can’t come to school just for a day, you don’t need to do anything. If you are ill or if there are any other important reasons why you can’t come to the school for more than 2 days, please ask for an ‘Authorised Absence Form’ at Reception and bring evidence (e.g. doctor’s certificate).

Can I change my General English course to an IELTS or Cambridge Preparation course?

Yes. Students are allowed to change once they pass the required entrance test. You may have to pay the difference depending on the length of the course you are attending.

Can I change my General English course to an Executive English course or one-to-one?

No. You cannot change between courses from different departments.

I lost my English textbook, what do I do?

Please report it to your teacher; they may have an extra copy. Please note that we don’t sell text books in the school.

Are English exam fees included in the course fees?

It depends on the course. Cambridge Examination Preparation Courses include the exam fees. Students on General English courses of 24 or 36 weeks can be prepared and entered for a Cambridge and/or IELTS exam at no extra charge.
