Career Development Loan (CDL) - Choosing your learning |
![]() |
![]() First things first...A Career Development Loan (CDL) is a deferred repayment commercial bank loan designed to help you pay for the learning that's best for you. As it is a personal loan you are responsible for repaying the loan to the bank once you have completed your CDL supported learning. It is important that you understand how much your monthly repayments will be and also that you are confident you will be able to meet these repayments. The great thing about a CDL is that you can use it with a wide range of learning providers, from local colleges to private training companies. We've asked all registered providers to sign up to some principles which will help make sure you get a good deal. (The principles are set out at the end of this leaflet.) But only you know which is the right course and provider for you. The choice is yours. So it's worth spending some time making sure you make the right choice. This leaflet covers some of the questions you need to ask yourself and learning providers – and there will be more that you can think of in relation to your own circumstances and requirements. Have a read through this leaflet and give some thought to the points it raises - it'll help you to get the best value from your investment of time and money in your own learning. Contents
