Agent Terms and Conditions

The conditions below set out the terms of contract between you, the student and International House London.

Medical, Travel and Course Insurance:

Comprehensive travel, repatriation, medical and course insurance are an essential part of international study travel.

Course Fees are not refundable or transferable. We therefore strongly recommend that you take out comprehensive insurance which covers reimbursement of fees.

If you wish to organise medical, travel and course insurance, International House London has negotiated favourable premiums for its students with Endsleigh Insurance Services Limited, the details of which can be found on the International House London website www.ihlondon.com. They offer insurance cover tailor-made to the needs and requirements of English language students.

Cancellation Fees - Before the student arrives at IH London:

All course fees are payable in advance. A minimum of one week’s notice in writing (fax, e-mail or letter) is required for changes to course schedule, postponement or cancellation of booking. The £60 Course Registration Fee is not refundable. If a course is cancelled with less than one week’s notice, a cancellation charge equivalent to £260 for tuition fees will be made.

Accommodation Fees

If accommodation is cancelled with at least one week’s notice in writing, full fees will be refunded.

Cancellation or change of accommodation after arrival:

You must give one week’s notice to your host if you intend to leave or change your accommodation. Full charges must be paid for this week’s notice. If, for some exceptional reason, you wish to leave your accommodation immediately, one week’s fees must be paid in lieu of notice.

Cancellation Fees - Once the student has started his/her course:

Lessons cannot be cancelled, postponed or curtailed and all fees are due as per the original agreement for both tuition and accommodation. No refund of course fees will be made. Please note that any change of course registration details will incur an admin charge of £50.

Academic Year Programmes allow you a two week break at Christmas and Easter.

Course availability and cancellation:

Every attempt will be made to place you on the course of your choice. However, International House London cannot guarantee a particular course and timetable until you have taken an entry test and had an interview. In the event of insufficient applications for a course, the school reserves the right to offer an alternative course of equal value.

British Immigration Regulations:

All non-EU students must study for a minimum of three hours per day (15 hours per week) to comply with British immigration regulations.

Documentation in support of study visa applications:

Documentation in support of study visa applications will only be provided upon receipt of full fees.

New Points-Based System for Student Entry Clearance to UK

At the end of March 2009, the UK Government will launch a new points–based system (PBS) for entry clearance for students who wish to study in UK. It will have simpler requirements for those applying to study in UK, and should be easier to administer for agents and their clients. The membership body for accredited schools of English, English UK, has published guidance on the new procedures which are very helpful.
You can read this guidance here. (149 KB) We hope you find it useful.

For specific advice on entry clearance and visa formalities, please contact your nearest British Embassy or Consulate.
