Engineering Foundation Course

IH London’s Engineering Foundation Course is an ideal pre-university course for international students who want to study an engineering-related degree at a UK university. The nine month course (39 weeks) starts annually every September, and the six month course (26 weeks) starts annually every January.

For the University Foundation Programme, your Engineering Foundation Course is combined with a compulsory academic English language programme that will help you reach an IELTS score of at least 6.5. To prepare for undergraduate study, Engineering modules are taught in a UK university style with lectures and tutorials.

Course modules have been developed by leading academic professors from top UK universities. Each module gives you a rigorous preparation for university that meets the requirements for entry into Higher Education in the UK.

Engineering UFP Course Timetable

  • ALL STUDENTS: 15 morning hours per week of General English and IELTS Preparation (3 hours each day)
  • 6 MONTH COURSE: Nine or 12 afternoon hours per week of Advanced Mathematics and Physics (depending on class size)
  • 9 MONTH COURSE: 6 afternoon hours per week of Advanced Mathematics and Physics

General UFP Information

  • The University Foundation Programme is for international students who have successfully completed secondary education in their home country. Please check the ( UFP entry requirements ) before applying.
  • Minimum English level for the nine-month programme: IELTS 5.0 or TOEFL 175 (cbt); for the six-month programme: IELTS score of 5.5 or TOEFL 196 (cbt).
  • The maximum group size is 15 students.
  • The minimum entry age is 17 years old.
  • Computer literacy is an important part of this course but not essential. Your tutors will give you guidance to help you become IT literate if needed.
