International House London is delighted to have started working with Casa Manolo – a family run group of Spanish restaurants here in London, specialising in traditional jamón and other typical local products.
Last month, Casa Manolo hosted Iberian Ham Workshops for our Spanish language students here at the school. These exciting events gave our students the chance to sample authentic Spanish cuisine, learn more about this famous national product, and even have a go at carving. Many Spanish chefs train for years to become Master Carvers, and it’s definitely not as easy as it looks!
The evenings were a great opportunity for our students to mingle and practise their Spanish language skills with classmates and teachers. We were blown away by just how delicious the jamón iberico was, and were really impressed with Master Carver Jose Antonio’s incredible skills.
Students also got to find out about jamón culture and some of the features and specifics of the various types of Spanish ham – these is so much to learn about this iconic national product!
We look forward to further exploring Spanish culture and holding more events like this soon. In the meantime, for anyone wanting to sample authentic cuisine and practise their Spanish language skills be sure to visit one of the Casa Manolo restaurants!
