Learn to teach English with the CELTA
The CELTA (Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) is a structured and practical introduction to teaching English as a foreign language (TEFL). Once you have completed the course, you will have the qualification, knowledge, practical experience and confidence to begin working as a teacher anywhere in the world. Choose how you study, full-time or part-time to match your preferred style and other commitments.
Every year we train over 500 new English teachers who then embark on exciting journeys all over the world, and start careers in the world of English language teaching, inspiring others and connecting people from around the globe.

What does the application process involve?
CELTA application journey
To apply for the CELTA, you need to complete both a written application and an interview. In our CELTA application timeline we’ve set out what’s involved in the process and our tips for success.
View the application journey**For clarity, the cost of a CELTA course is broken down into two parts. The CELTA course fee (£1,684) is the fee for taking the course at IH London, inclusive of all materials and tuition. The Cambridge fee (£170) goes towards the qualification body, Cambridge. Both fees are payable to IH London. Remember, if you book your course within 10 days of receiving a course offer, we will pay the £170 Cambridge fee for you.
