Our story
Our story began in 1953, with our founders John Haycraft (CBE) and his wife Brita Haycraft who started a school because they believed in international communication and building communities across cultures.
Who we areFree and low cost intermediate English lessons online, streaming from London.
These online classes are low-cost because the teachers are learning to teach and have not yet qualified. The classes are FREE if you are a refugee, an asylum seeker or over 65 years old.
You will study vocabulary and grammar and have a lot of speaking practice with enthusiastic teachers and other students in a virtual classroom.
Lesson times
- Monday to Friday, 2 hours per day (13.30-15.30)
- Mondays and Wednesdays, 2 hours per day (10.00-12.00)
- Mondays and Wednesdays, 2 hours per day (18.30-20.30)
- Tuesdays and Thursdays, 2 hours per day (10.00-12.00)
- Tuesdays and Thursdays, 2 hours per day (18.30-20.30)
*If there is a bank holiday in your booking, your class will be on the Friday and not the Monday.
Course requirements
To get the most from this course you will need:
- A reliable internet connection
- A desktop computer, laptop, tablet or smartphone
- A web camera on or attached to the device you are using
- An integrated microphone in the device you are using or an attached headset.
- You will be sent all the details you need to connect to the IH London virtual classroom.
