What is the objective of this workshop:
The goal of this workshop is to introduce you to the fundamental concepts of Kanji and basic Japanese calligraphy, fostering an appreciation for these art forms and providing a foundation for further exploration.

Workshop Content:
Brief introduction to the history and role of Kanji in the Japanese writing system.
Exploration of a few fundamental and visually interesting Kanji characters: their meanings, origins, and stroke order.
Introduction to basic calligraphy tools and techniques: brush holding, posture, and fundamental brushstrokes.
Guided practice in writing the selected Kanji characters using traditional calligraphy methods.

Katakana is a vital part of the Japanese writing system, used primarily for foreign loanwords and emphasis. This 2-hour workshop provides a clear and engaging introduction to the Katakana script. Whether you are starting to learn Katakana or need a refresher, our experienced teachers will guide you through the characters, building your confidence to start reading and writing in Japanese.

What is the objective of this workshop:
The goal of this workshop is to teach you Katakana, allowing you to begin to transcribe foreign words (non-Japanese words).

Workshop Content:
Brief overview of the Japanese writing system.
Stroke order demonstration and practice.
Simple reading and writing practice of common words.

Is this workshop for beginners?
This requires that you have previously studied Japanese Level 1 and 2 or a course of at least 24 class hours. If you are a complete beginner of Japanese, we recommend you learn Hiragana first before learning Katakana.
