Songs for Japan 2: 18 months after the great east Japan earthquake and tsunami
IH London is sponsoring Songs for Japan 2, a concert to raise funds for sustainable recovery projects in areas of Japan affected by the 2011 earthquake.
Where and when
The concert is taking place on Sunday 11 November at 4pm - doors open at 3.30pm - at St George’s Church, Bloomsbury Way, London WC1 2HR and admission is free.
The programme will include opera arias by Mozart and Handel, music by Ivor Novello, and Japanese and English traditional songs. The soprano will be Saori Nakazawa (see picture opposite) with Diana Wright on piano. See St George’s Bloomsbury for details.
Supporting recovery projects in Japan
All donations given on the day will go to Project Next which supports survivors of the disaster by delivering food, supplies and other necessities directly to those in need.
A small number of limited-edition heart-shaped brooches will be available to buy at the concert to support the East Loop project for women whose lives are affected by the 2011 earthquake and tsunami.
East Loop supports women from the disaster-hit area through helping to sell their small items of handicraft.
