IH London welcomes teachers from China
IH London welcomed a group of ten primary school teachers from Changzhou, Jiangsu in China recently.
The teachers were comprised of six English teachers, two Chinese teachers and two maths teachers, from the Xingyun School in China. The two maths teachers took General English classes while the rest of the group completed a Teacher Training course.
The course content included classroom skills for primary school teachers and information about UK culture. The schedule for week one was based on getting to know each other, using flashcards for developing vocabulary, learning different writing techniques for younger learners, guided writing, classroom management, oral communication skills and error correction techniques. Week two was focused on phonics, using drama in the classroom, creative ideas for the classroom, story-telling and using technology in the classroom.

Aside from the course, the group also enjoyed four exciting excursions around the U.K during the week and weekend. In London the group visited the British Museum, London Eye, a musical and enjoyed an interactive walking tour of Central London. A second excursion to Cambridge included a guided tour of the city, a visit to the River Cam, Corpus Clock, Kings College and punting. The group enjoyed a third excursion to Oxford, where they visited the Bridge of Sighs, Radcliffe Camera, Christ Church College and had an interactive tour of the city. Finally, the group visited Brighton, where they visited Brighton Pavilion, The Lanes and enjoyed a city tour.
