Fancy something a bit different? Try Origami Soundscapes & The Crane, a multi-media origami and music performance. Taking place on the 23rd and 24th of August, this fusion event will showcase two pieces of work by Verity Lane, drawing on her experience of 10 years living in Japan. The show combines Japanese traditions with modern music, dance and animation. The performances take place at Arcola Theatre in Dalston and tickets start from £12.
From 22nd August, Japan House will be holding an exhibition dedicated to the life and work of Anno Mitsumasa, one of Japan’s most famous children’s book illustrators and authors. Mitsumasa is best known for his beautiful picture books, which tell stories through illustrations rather than words. The exhibition displays some incredible pieces of work, features a reading library with many of his books and introduces the audience to Japanese language. Entry is free!
