Exercises include gap fill tasks, multiple choice questions and pronunciation exercises.

Road to IELTS 2

Road to IELTS

Road to IELTS 2 is organised into four key skill areas, one for each paper in IELTS.

In each skill area learners can prepare effectively for their test by reading about each paper, getting advice from experts via video and practising specific question types using the interactive practice exercises and mock papers.

There are also downloadable mock papers that simulate the IELTS test.

Student Self Access Centre for trainee teachers

Self Access Centre 2

In our Self Access Centre we have a range of software applications designed to help CELTA and IH TESOL trainees develop their teaching skills.

Trainees can access hardware such as interactive whiteboards (IWBs), video and audio recording devices, headsets and microphones alongside printers, scanners and PCs equipped with the full Microsoft Office suite.

Interactive whiteboards

An interactive whiteboard (IWB) is a touch-sensitive projection screen that allows you to control a computer directly, by touching the board rather than using a keyboard or mouse (although these can still be used).

There is one interactive boardin the Self Access Centre that CELTA and IH TESOL trainees can use to practise lessons and gain confidence in using the technology.

Training materials and tutorials are provided on your Induction day. SAC staff are also available to help during support hours.

SMART software for interactive whiteboards

SMART is software designed specifically for interactive whiteboards and provides a selection of tools for designing slides for IWBs, including video, photography and graphics.

You are also able to use the SMART software, which includes SMART Notebook, SMART Recorder and SMART Video Player. Thereby you can create video- and audio files by using provided webcams and headsets.

To help you get the most out of the software you can access tutorials on how to use SMART tools.

Teacher training DVD series and digital resources

There are a number of video recordings of IH London teachers in action, teaching classes across all English levels here in the school – giving you the experience of a real classroom.

We have a selection of DVDs covering the teaching of grammar, improving speaking skills, lesson planning, classroom management and role playing that you can watch in the Self Access Centre and in the Library as well as at home via our microlibrarian website accessible from any internet connected device.

We also offer a wide selection of useful digital resources and websites on our student intranet, your go-to place for essential information to support your self-study.
