An Excuse to Watch Netflix!

Don’t feel guilty about lounging in front of Netflix, use the time to improve your language skills! There is a great selection of German language films and series to work your way through. Pick up new vocabulary, see grammar in use, and gain confidence with your listening skills. This handy website has a good summary of German language productions currently available on UK Netflix.

The Tate Modern is currently exhibiting a German collection from the era of the Weimar Republic: Magic Realism – Art in Weimar Germany. This intriguing collection displays paintings from a number of German artists including Otto Dix, George Grosz, Albert Birkle and Jeanne Mammen, and showcases the genre’s characteristic mixture of modern realism and fantasy.

German Language Cinema

Once a month the Goethe Institut holds its Geothe-Kino evenings – German language film screenings. A variety of genres are covered, and the best part is that tickets are only £5. The showings are a great opportunity to familiarise yourself with German language cinema, and of course, to work on those language skills!
