5 Useful Websites for Greek Language Students

September 1, 2022September 9, 2022

by Eva Uddin

Many people will have different theories about the best way to become fluent in a language, but there is one thing we can all agree on: practice, practice, practice! So with that in mind, you may be looking for some extra resources to enhance your Greek language skills outside of class. Here are 5 websites which for any Greek language students are well worth a visit.

Omilo Blog

We’re big fans of this blog. It’s full of articles about all things Greek – from history and cuisine to language pointers. What’s more, many articles have versions in both Greek and English which are great for working on reading comprehension skills, and some also come with audio transcripts too.

Transparent Greek

Another great blog for Greek language students is that of Transparent Language. It’s home to a mix of different things – articles, audios and vocabulary lists – covering a variety of different topics, and is ideal for anyone wanting to delve into Greek history and culture.

BBC Learning Zone – Greek

Home to a series of videos, this collection has a pretty retro feel by now, although for that reason are lovable. The videos are still really interesting, and are perfect for working on listening skills and learning about life and traditions in Greece.

Greek Pod 101

The Pod 101 series comes in many languages, and the Greek language version is just as good as the rest. It’s home to lots of language learning resources, from video tutorials to vocabulary and grammar exercises. It covers various themes meaning it has something for everyone.

Forvo

This website is a bit different, in that it solely focuses on pronunciation. It consists of categories of vocabulary lists covering different topics with recordings of the pronunciation of each word – handy for a bit of practice at home!
