The conditions below set out the terms of contract between you, the student and International House London.

Medical, travel and financial insurance

It is highly recommended that students get comprehensive travel, repatriation, medical and course insurance to cover their period of international study. School fees are not refundable or transferable so they should look for comprehensive insurance that covers reimbursement of fees. 

Cancellation fees before the student arrives at IH London

SCHOOL FEES ARE NOT REFUNDABLE OR TRANSFERABLE

All fees are payable in advance. If you wish to cancel, change or postpone the booking, we require ten days’  notice in writing. Where less than ten days’ notice is given, full fees are due and no refund is available (with the exception of accommodation fees).

Accommodation fees

If accommodation is cancelled with at least one week’s notice in writing, full fees will be refunded.

Cancellation or change of accommodation

General Accommodation Homestay and Shared House Accommodation
Ten days’  notice is required in order to cancel accommodation. Where less than ten days’ notice is given there will be a charge equivalent to one week of the accommodation. The remainder will be refunded.

Residential Accommodation
The cancellation policy for this type of accommodation differs depending on the residence selected. You will be informed of the applicable cancellation policy when your residential option is confirmed.

Cancellation fees once the student has started their course

Cancellation up to 10 days before start date:

Course fees: Full refund
Registration fee: No refund
Homestay fees: Full refund
Residence fees: 1 week of accommodation fees payable

Cancellation fewer than 10 days before start date:

Course fees: No refund
Registration fee: No refund
Homestay fees: 1 week of accommodation fees payable
Residence fees: 2 weeks of accommodation fees payable

Cancellation on or after start date:

Course fees: No refund
Registration fee: No refund
Homestay fees: 1 week of accommodation fees payable
Residence fees: 3 weeks of accommodation fees payable

Lessons cannot be cancelled, postponed or curtailed and all fees are due as per the original agreement for both tuition and accommodation. No refund of course fees will be made. Please note that any change of course registration details may incur an admin charge of £50.

For students wanting to re-enrol

Fees are applicable as per the current price list. 

Minimum age

General English Programmes: 16 years old
Executive English programmes: 21 years old

Attendance and student holidays

Students are expected to attend lessons regularly and on time. Students forfeit course fees if they are late, absent, or leave before the course ends. Students attending courses of 36 weeks or more duration may take a holiday of two weeks without losing their course fee for the period providing at least four weeks’ notice is given. Academic Year Programmes allow a two week break at Christmas and Easter.

Course availability and cancellation

Every attempt will be made to place students on the course of their choice. However, International House London cannot guarantee a particular course and timetable until he/she has taken an entry test and had an interview. In the event of insufficient applications for a course, the school reserves the right to offer an alternative course of equal value.

British immigration regulations

If the student is a non-EU applicant, you may require a student visa in order to study at the school. It is your responsibility to obtain this visa and IH London is not responsible if a student obtains the wrong visa. If you require a visa and arrive without one, you will not be eligible to attend the school. All non-EU students must study for a minimum of 15 hours per week to comply with British immigration regulations. 

  • International House London is a Tier 4 Sponsorunder the UKVI’s points based system  (no. 5BY3ENNA5).
  • International House London will provide thedocumentation required for students to apply  for study visas where applicable.
  • Documentation in support of study visaapplications will only be provided upon receipt of full fees.
  • The school has a legal obligation to collateand maintain application information, as well as passport and visa data, and inform the Immigration Authorities of those students whose attendance falls below the standard required by their visa.
  • If a visa application is unsuccessful, yet alldocumentation was correctly submitted, IH London needs to be informed and a copy of the visa refusal letter should be sent to the admissions team. A refund will be issued when we receive this document. We will also keep one week of accommodation fees if we are notified fewer than 10 days from the start of the course.

Getting a student visa for the UK

Payment

Payment must be received in full and in advance of the first day of your course. You may pay by:

  • Bank Transfer in £ sterling. Please note that International Bank Transfers and Bankers Draft payments will incur a £15 charge.
  • Credit Cards: We accept payment by MasterCard, Visa and JCB card.
  • Cheques should be made payable to International House. Please write the student’s name and invoice number on the back of the cheque (if you are an Agent) or your name on the back if you are a student.
  • Pay online via our website www.ihlondon.com

Total fees for your course:

  • The total fees are made up of the following:
  • £95 course registration fee
  • Course fee
  • Accommodation fee if applicable
  • Bank transfer fee
  • Airport transfer fee if applicable

Registration fee

A £95 registration fee is charged for any new enrolment. Students wishing to re-enrol within 12 months from the start of their first course will not be charged a registration fee. Students re-enrolling after 12 months from the start of their first course will be charged a new registration fee.

Special offers

Course discounts are valid from the date of advertisement. Discounts cannot be applied retrospectively to existing bookings.

Booking Conditions

By making bookings with International House London, you agree to these terms and conditions.

If you book your programme at International House London through an agency in your country, then the contract you have is with your agent, and different terms and conditions may apply.

Payment

Once you have chosen your course, we require a deposit of £450 payment to secure your place. This is non-refundable. All other fees should be settled in full at least 30 days prior to the start of your course. Payment can be made by bank transfer direct to IH or through our online payment provider Flywire. In addition to a Flywire handling fee, all card payments maybe subjected to a fee levied by the card company. These fees are non-refundable. It is your responsibility to cover all bank charges and exchange rate differences for payments.

Amendment charges

Once the programme has been confirmed, amendments will be allowed at the discretion of IH London and may be liable to an administration charge of up to £50.

Cancellation

Cancellations before the course start date must be made in writing to IH London. Once a booking has been confirmed, the following cancellation notice periods and fees apply:

  • More than 6 weeks before the course start date: all fees are refunded apart from the £450 deposit
  • No refund of fees when a booking is cancelled 29 days or fewer before the course begins.

Acceptance conditions

We accept students on the assumption that they are of sound health and are aged 8–17 at Ellesmere, 12–17 at Oxford, 12–17 in London, and 12–17 in Moulton at the time of the programme.

Travel

All travel details must be finalised and communicated to IH at least 21 days before the start of the programme to guarantee an arranged airport transfer.

Behaviour

The admission of a student is conditional on acceptance of these terms and conditions and of the rules published by the school. School rules will be sent out along with the joining documentation. While every effort will be made to contact parents or guardians regarding serious breaches of school rules, the centre manager may at his/her discretion impose sanctions, including suspension and expulsion. We reserve the right to dismiss any student whose standard of conduct is unsatisfactory. There will be no refund of fees in cases of expulsion and all costs incurred as a result must be paid for by the student.

Damage

All students are liable for loss or damage to school property for which they are responsible. A £50 cash deposit will be taken from all students upon arrival and returned at the end of the programme, providing no damage has been incurred.

Health and safety

We operate a rigorous Health and Safety policy. Staff are all DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) checked and undergo a period of training and orientation prior to students arriving at the school. All the relevant student- teacher ratios are adhered to, as set out by the Children’s Act and relevant governing bodies of language travel courses, such as English UK.

Medical

The school has fully-qualified first-aiders. There are also excellent links with local accident and emergency facilities. We cannot accept students on the Young Learner Programme unless their parents have signed and returned the completed medical and personal information form (Joining Documents).

Parents must provide the school with any specific details that are not included on the form but which apply to the student. Medical forms should be completed at least 21 days prior to the student’s arrival. Any medication that a student brings with them must be labelled in English and given to a member of IH staff on arrival. We regret that any student arriving with a serious medical condition which was not previously reported on the medical and personal information form may be sent home with no refund of fees.

Force Majeure

In the event of ‘force majeure’, such as fire, flooding, infectious diseases and other events outside the company’s reasonable control which may cause the closure of the school, no refund of fees will be made to students, except at the school’s discretion in exceptional circumstances.

Disclaimer

All details are published in good faith, as of August 2018. All programmes are subject to availability and minimum class numbers. We reserve the right to alter any particulars, such as fees, at our discretion. We reserve the right to cancel any course or close the school for any reason. Should this be necessary, we will offer either a full refund or an alternative course for the same value.

Insurance

We provide insurance for all participants. Please see ihlondon.com/insurance for full details of the coverage including exclusions. Please take out additional coverage if necessary.

Airport transfers

Students will be met by a member of IH London Young Learners Programme staff and accompanied to the school. Shared transfers are available from 10:00 until 19:00 only from: London airports, St Pancras Railways Station, Manchester International Airport, Liverpool John Lennon Airport. For arrivals outside of these times, clients can make their own way to the school or book a private transfer at an additional cost.

Clients are welcome to choose between a shared or private transfer during the hours of 10:00 and 19:00, but private transfers will be charged at the full private transfer rate. This includes a member of the school staff meeting the student at the airport and checking in the student at the airport upon departure.

Visas & British Immigration Regulations
You may need a student visa in order to study at the school. It is your responsibility to obtain this visa and IH London is not responsible if students obtain the wrong visa. If you require a visa, and you arrive without one, you will not be allowed to attend the school.

    the Immigration Authorities of those students whose attendance falls below the standard required by their visa.
  • If a visa application is unsuccessful, IH London needs to be informed and a
    copy of the visa refusal letter should be sent to the admissions team. A refund
    will be issued when we receive this documentation, providing that it is at least 4 weeks before the start of the course. In this instance, we will refund the fees except for the deposit of £450. If we are notified fewer than 4 weeks before the start of the course, the normal cancellation charges will apply.

£350 (non-refundable) and Registration Fee £95

Balance

To make your booking, you must submit a booking form and pay a £350 deposit, which is part of your total fees, and the £95 registration fee, within 3 working days of submitting your form. Both payments are non-refundable. Balance needs to be paid 4 weeks before start date. Always quote your student number on bank transfers or correspondence.

Payment

Full fees as quoted on your pro-forma invoice must be paid at least 4 weeks before the course start date. We cannot guarantee to hold a place on the course/ accommodation unless all fees are paid in full and on time. Students with unpaid fees will not be admitted to the course and may not be able to move into or remain in their accommodation.

Payment can be made by bank transfer direct to IH or through our online payment provider Flywire. In addition to a Flywire handling fee, all card payments may be subjected to a fee levied by the card company. These fees are non-refundable. It is your responsibility to cover all bank charges and exchange rate differences for payments.

Cancellation: course

Cancellations before the course start date must be made in writing to IH London. Once a booking has been confirmed, the following cancellation notice periods and fees apply.

  • More than 4 weeks before the course start date: all fees are refunded apart from the £350 deposit and £95 registration fee
  • Less than 4 weeks before the course start date: you must pay two weeks tuition fees (less the £350 deposit) and £95 registration fee.

Cancellation: accommodation
If you cancel your accommodation in a residence or in a homestay at least 4 weeks prior to your arrival you will not incur any charges. However, if you cancel 1-4 weeks prior to arrival, you will incur a charge of up to 4 weeks of accommodation fees. Accommodation booking fee: No refund given on this.

Visas

You may require a student visa in order to study at the school. It is your responsibility
to obtain this visa and IH London is not responsible if a student obtains the wrong visa. If you require a visa, and you arrive without one, you will not be allowed to attend the school.

  • International House London is a Tier 4 Sponsor under the UKBA’s points based system (no. 5BY3ENNA5).
  • International House London will
    provide the documentation required for participants to apply for study visas where applicable.
  • Documentation in support of study visa applications will only be provided upon receipt of full fees.
  • The school has a legal obligation to collate and maintain application information, as well as passport and visa data, and inform the Immigration Authorities of those participants whose attendance falls below the standard required by their visa.
  • If a visa application is unsuccessful, yet all documentation was correctly submitted, IH London needs to be informed and a copy of the visa refusal letter should be sent to the customer service team. A refund will be issued on receipt of this documentation, less a £95 administration fee, providing that it is at least 4 weeks before the start of the course. If we are notified fewer than 4 weeks before the start of the course, all fees are refunded except the £350 deposit and the £95 registration fee, we will also keep one week of accommodation fees.

Insurance

We recommend all students take out a suitable insurance policy to cover cancellation & medical emergencies. You can find out about our insurance options at ihlondon.com/insurance

Important Information

  • Minimum age for participants on Learn English programmes is 16 years old.
  • You can start a Learn English course any week.
  • The minimum booking duration for Learn English 15, 20 and 25 courses is 1 week. Other courses offer specific course durations.
  • You need to be at least A2 level to study in the Learn English group classes except for the 1:1 training.
  • The registration fee of £95 is payable for all for all new enrolments. If you start the next course within 6 months of your last course, this fee will not be charged.

Public holidays

There are no Learn English classes on public holidays.

There will be no classes from Monday 23 December 2019. The School will reopen on 6th January 2020.

Payment can be made by debit or credit card over the phone, by bank transfer direct to IH or through our online payment provider Flywire.In addition to a Flywire handling fee of up to £7, all card payments will be subject to a 2% fee levied by the card company. These fees are non-refundable. It is your responsibility to cover all bank charges and exchange rate differences for payments.

Cancellation: course

Cancellations before the course start date must be made in writing to IH London. Once a booking has been confirmed, the following cancellation notice periods and fees apply.

  • More than 4 weeks before the course start date: all fees refunded apart from the deposit or registration fee
  • No refund of fees when a booking is cancelled 4 weeks or fewer before the course begins.

Cancellation: accommodation
If you cancel your accommodation in a residence or in a homestay at least 4 weeks prior to your arrival you will not incur any charges. However, if you cancel 1-4 weeks prior to arrival, you will incur a charge of up to 4 weeks of accommodation fees. Accommodation booking fee: No refund given on this.

  • If a visa application is unsuccessful, yet all documentation was correctly submitted, IH London needs to be informed and a copy of the visa refusal letter should be sent to the admissions team. A refund will be issued when we receive this document, providing that it is at least 28 days before the start of the course. If you have not received your visa three weeks before the course, we retain the right to cancel your place and retain an administration fee.

Public holidays
