YouTube is an endless hub of information and resources – name a topic, and you’re sure to find a video about it. Whether it’s on how to make the perfect curry or how to fix your boiler, you can find the answer on YouTube. More importantly however, it’s home to some great content for Greek language students which is perfect for supplementing lessons. Here are five channels that we recommend to anyone learning the Greek language.
Easy Greek
We love the format of the Easy Greek series! Greek people are interviewed on the street about a range of different topics and the videos come with both Greek and English subtitles. Locals are quizzed about traditions, stereotypes, phrases, vocabulary and more, offering a fantastic insight into Greek culture.
Do You Speak Greek?
On this channel Greek teacher Alexandra posts videos covering a variety of different themes, introducing learners to vocabulary and phrases which are really useful. We enjoy the different contexts and find the videos engaging and genuinely helpful.
Linguatree
This is another great account for Greek language students, featuring videos by teacher Yiuli. Her videos cover both cultural and linguistic topics. From short stories and grammar tutorials, to how to videos, there is a nice variety of content to be found on Linguatree.
Greek Pod 101
Many students may already be familiar with the Greek Pod 101 series. The YouTube channel is full of endless videos made for those interested in learning Greek. We particularly like the Listening Practice playlist however. Videos are available from beginners to advanced levels, and are a good way to build on our Greek listening skills and test ourselves in our free time.
Learn Greek with Katerina
Katerina is a lively host creating videos primarily about verb conjugations and expressions, but she also offers some creative conversation practice too. Her channel has lots of useful clips accessible to different level students, and are a fun way to spend a few minutes getting in some extra Greek revision.
Want to learn even more Greek? At IH London we have both online and face-to-face courses starting every few weeks, from beginners to advanced level. Find out more here.
