Much to our joy, there are increasing numbers of brilliant Italian series becoming available on Netflix UK, meaning we have endless opportunities to kick back with a good show and let the Italian language wash over us – the perfect way to combine relaxing and improving our Italian comprehension skills. So what have we been enjoying recently? Here are some of our favourite Italian language series right now!

Are you by any chance looking for something cheesy and up-beat to watch? If so we have just the thing for you! Try Guida astrologica per cuori infranti (or in English, An Astrological Guide for Broken Hearts). Alice is down on her luck with her love life, but one day meets an astrologer who teaches her about finding love through the science of star signs. Will she finally meet her match? Find out in this fun-filled series!
Incastrati
If a combination of Sicilian scenery, hilarity and the mob sounds up your street, then Incastrati is for you. You can search for it on UK Netflix under it’s alternative title ‘Framed – A Sicilian Murder Mystery’. This comedy series follows the story of two innocent TV technicians who happen to witness a murder. As they try to distance themselves from the event, they land themselves in more and more comical trouble!
Zero
Imagine if one day you discovered you had a super power which allowed you to turn invisible? What would you use your powers for? And what effect would they have on your life and on those around you? Follow the story of Omar in the quirky drama Zero as his reality in the suburbs of Milan is turned upside down.
Generazione 56k
For the perfect combination of romantic turmoil, nostalgia, banter between friends and retro 90s flashbacks, give Generazione 56k a go. Flicking between the present day lives of a group of friends working in the tech industry in Naples, and their teenage years on the small island of Procida, it’s an up-beat watch with an easy-to-follow story line about a group of people trying to balance life, love and work.
Baby
Based on true events, gritty series Baby tells the tale of a group of wealthy teenagers from Rome who, bored with their lives, get lured into a dangerous world of escorting and prostitution, with events soon spiraling out of control. The show has been a huge hit in Italy and is definitely worth the watch. You’ll be hooked in no time!
Curon
When a woman and her children return to her eerie childhood village in northern Italy, they’re greeted with a cold welcome from the locals, including her own father. Bad things always seem to happen there, from disappearances to murders, and the town is in fact rumored to be cursed. Right on cue, shortly after their arrival events take a weird turn. Curon will have you on edge… or hiding behind the sofa, but if Stranger Things style series are your kind of thing, then this is the show for you!
