Spring is a good time to get outdoors and enjoy the flowers, warmer weather and see new-born animals. Luckily, you don’t have to leave London to see some cute, fluffy wildlife. In spring, your local farm will be ready to show you its lambs (baby sheep), ducklings (baby ducks) and maybe even pond life such as frogs. We pick out some of the best for you below:
East London
Perhaps one of the most well-known farms in London, Hackney City Farm has plenty of animals including chickens, pigs, horses, goats, sheep and geese. There is also a tempting farm shop to buy delicious food. Close by, you can wander over to Spitalfields to enjoy plenty of Easter activities and meet Beatrix the sheep or Bayleaf the donkey!

North London
You won’t believe you are still in London if you visit Belmont Children’s Farm. With fields of sheep, goats, pigs and ponies, it is the biggest farm with a London postcode. It is perfect for kids as they can look and also touch the animals. Also north of the river is Kentish Town City Farm, the UK’s first city farm. With its collection of animals and opportunities to ride horses, it is also worth a visit over the May bank holiday when they host lots of fun activities for families.
South London
In south London there are two great farms to discover. At Surrey Docks Farm you can find cute animals, beautiful gardens and lots of green grass. They have a fab café and other activities such as yoga to join. Another fantastic farm located close to Greenwich is Woodlands Farm Trust. Get ready to see animals of all shapes and sizes, from little guinea pigs to Shetland ponies.

West London
For those in West London, two top farms to explore are in Hounslow and Vauxhall. The first is Hounslow Urban Farm where you can meet the pigs, rabbits and alpacas, or even eat free candyfloss during the summer holidays. Finally, perhaps the most centrally located farm is Vauxhall City Farm. You may be right in the city, but here you can look for pondlife, see the ducks as well as hang out with some horses and pigs.
