In this blog, we share some of our favourite Portuguese restaurants where you can taste modern takes on Portuguese classics as well as staple dishes right from the heart of Portugal.
Casa do Frango
Bringing the spirit of Southern Portugal to London is Casa do Frango. Casa do Frango is a favourite among Londoners. Diners can expect a ‘Cheeky Nandos’ on steroids to the backdrop of a super trendy setting with immaculate vibes, food and cocktails. Head to either the London Bridge restaurant for the perfect date night or the Shoreditch branch for a fun work event.
Must order: The famous African Rice along with the amazing Charred Cauliflower and a Caipirinha cocktail.

Bar Douro
Under a railway arch in the bustling Flat Iron Square, you can find Bar Douro which is bringing fresh, authentic Portuguese food and wine to London. Transport yourself to Porto by sitting at the counter in their très chic azulejos-tiled restaurant for some petiscos and a glass of their finest wine. There is also another Bar Douro in the City if you fancy grabbing a bite after work.
Must order: Salty Bacalhau à Brás, crunchy Croquetes de Alheira and a glass of white wine from the Douro Valley.

Lisboeta
Lisboeta is a love letter to Lisbon and celebrates the rich gastronomical heritage, tradition and food of the city. Guests can enjoy traditional and contemporary petiscos from the Alentejano region and an extensive list of fantastic wine from Portugal. At just a 15-minute walk from our school, Lisboeta is a must-visit for hungry students after class.
Must order: Tender Presa Alentejana with some O Simões Azeitão Cheese and accompanied by a refreshing White Port & Tonic cocktail

O Cantinho
O Cantinho is family-run restaurant within the heart of the community in Little Portugal near Stockwell. For 20 years, they have been serving some of the freshest and most authentic Portuguese cuisine in London. The décor and setting is very unpretentious and you could easily walk past the restaurant without thinking twice, however the food really speaks for itself. No wonder it’s a locals’ favourite in Little Portugal.
Must order: Classics like Sandinhas Assadas and Francesinha sandwich with a pint of Super Bock to quench your thirst.

A Toca
Also in Little Portugal, A Toca aims to show what Portuguese cuisine and wine is all about. The menu has an extensive range of delicious, traditional Portuguese delicacies to whet the appetite. This place also opens up as a Portuguese café from 7am, so be sure to stop by for a nice coffee and homemade pastel de nata if you’re in the area.
Must order: Portuguese staples like Caldo Verde and Polvo à Lagareiro, or a café and Pastel de Nata if you’re going for breakfast.
