Who doesn’t love a good YouTube binge every now and again? We certainly do, but what we also love is working on our German language skills at the same time – killing two birds with one stone. So where should you be looking to find great German language content? Here are a few of our favourite channels.
Slow German
We all know that studying a language isn’t solely about memorising long lists of vocabulary, doing tedious grammar exercises or reading boring texts, but it’s also just as important to understand the culture and history behind the language. This is why Slow German is one of the best channels out there for German students, as you’ll learn loads of different things about Germany, as well as seriously enhance your language skills at the same time. The presenter, journalist Annik Rubens, speaks very clearly and slowly (hence the name of the podcast), so each episode is very thought-provoking and suitable for students of different abilities.
Learn German with Anja
For something fun and light-hearted, check out Learn German with Anja. This is a fun channel where Anja introduces us to new vocabulary and phrases through short, fun videos – perfect for giving your language studies a little boost every now and again. From grammar and vocabulary pointers to cultural snippets, there is a nice variety of content here for students of different levels.
Learn German Fast
Another channel with a similar style is Learn German Fast. Teacher Natalia offers lots of useful language pointers as well as interesting local insights. We particularly enjoy her range of shorts, offering bitesize language lessons to German language students.

Easy German
We’re big fans of the the Easy German channel! It’s a YouTube hub specifically dedicated to German language learners and home to a whole range of videos featuring real people from the streets of Germany and beyond. From cultural insights and grammar pointers to live sessions, you’re bound to find something of interest to you there. Check it out!
German Short Stories
If you’ want to pay more attention to your comprehension skills, try My German Short Stories. It’s home to lots of stories about everyday things, and the videos have German subtitles so are perfect for audio-visual training. They’re great for working on listening and reading skills at the same time. Most of the videos are aimed at pre-intermediate / intermediate level students, but there are some easier ones too.
Deutschtrainer
DW is one of Germany’s main TV broadcasting services, and we love their German language resources. DW’s Deutschtrainer is a dedicated series designed specially for language students. It has lots of handy videos covering different topics and is a great way to supplement what you cover in class, particularly for those just recently starting their German language journey. Take a look!
