Pubs are an essential part of British culture. They are a spot where you can enjoy a beer with friends or family, de-compress after work and where you can meet new people. There are thousands of pubs across the city, but we’re lucky to have so many nice ones around our school. In this blog, we share our 5 favourite pubs around Covent Garden where you can go after class with your classmates and teachers and immerse yourself in British culture.
The Nag’s Head
As soon as you walk out of Covent Garden tube station, you will find the Nag’s Head to your right. Arguably Covent Garden’s most popular pub, this 1600s Victoria pub has been a local favourite for centuries. The charm and buzz of the pub make it a must-visit if you’re in the area.

The Cross Keys
Literally a stone’s throw away from the school, The Cross Keys is the local watering hole for students and teachers. The Cross Keys is everything a proper London traditional ‘boozer’ should be and its aesthetic hasn’t changed in the last 20 years. The pub has plenty of character and it’s been serving those grabbing a pint after work or theatre-goers since the 1840s.

The Harp
The Harp is an award-winning, blissfully traditional place with an interesting selection of beers from all around the country. The Harp is a great example of a traditional British ale house, and what it lacks in size it makes up for with an abundance of charm and cosiness.

Punch & Judy
Located right in the heart of Covent Garden market, the Punch & Judy looks over the front courtyard where there are regularly street performers. Catch the sun on their lovely balcony and watch as life goes by in Covent Garden. This popular 18th-century pub is also great in winter with a dimly-lit vault and it has a superb collection of cask ales.

Location:
The Crown & Anchor
Located in the lively Seven Dials area, the Crown & Anchor is a charmingly traditional British pub spread over two floors. Downstairs is a great place to meet for a drink with friends or classmates, or you can get a take-out pint to enjoy in the sun! Around the corner from most major West End shows, the pub is also perfect for a pre or post-theatre meal with a fantastic selection of traditional homemade pub food you can enjoy upstairs.
