Albanian Level 1 (A0) is a complete beginner course for students who have never studied the language before. If you already have some basic knowledge of Albanian, we recommend contacting the Foreign Language Department, as a more suitable course may be available for you.

Our classes take place at our school in Covent Garden with qualified, experienced teachers.

Classes at IH London are dynamic and interactive as the emphasis is on spoken communication. Lessons are primarily taught in Albanian and include interactive activities like group work and role-plays to boost confidence and fluency. Our courses help you use Albanian in everyday situations, while building core skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing.

After Level 1, continue your learning with Level 2 and beyond. Progression is based on your class participation and self-study—there are no formal tests. To help you better understand our level system, check our level chart.

By the end of your course, you should be able to:

• Introduce yourself and others and exchange basic personal information such as name, origin, profession, address, and contact details
• Ask and answer simple questions about nationality, language, and place of residence
• Engage in basic conversations using formal and informal language appropriately
• Talk about yourself, your family, children, friends, and leisure interests
• Use the present tense of jam (to be) and kam (to have), and apply basic grammar structures (subject pronouns, possessive pronouns, negation, and questions)
• Understand and use vocabulary related to countries, nationalities, languages, and everyday situations
• Recognise and use numbers (0–100), tell the time, and pronounce common Albanian names and words correctly
• Gain awareness of Albanian dialects and cultural practices, including naming customs, traditional festivals, food, music, and dances

Albanian Level 2 | Evenings

Albanian Level 2 (A1) is an Elementary Albanian course for students who have already completed a Beginners course. It is recommended that you have previously studied Albanian Level 1 or a course of at least 12 class hours. If you’re unsure whether this level is right for you, we recommend contacting the Foreign Language Department, as a more suitable course may be available for you.

Our classes take place at our school in Covent Garden with qualified, experienced teachers.

• Describe professions and talk about daily activities
• Use numbers from 100 to 1,000 and basic mathematical terms
• Identify days of the week and use them in conversation
• Use the present tense of common verbs (punoj, mësoj, bëj, gatuaj, shkoj, vij)
• Form sentences using the particle po for ongoing actions and prepositions në and te(k)
• Apply gender and number rules to professions and nationalities
• Deepen cultural understanding through Albanian festivals and regional geography

Albanian Level 3 | Evenings

Albanian Level 3 (A1) is an Elementary Albanian course for students who have already studied some Albanian. It is recommended that you have previously studied Albanian Level 2 or a course of at least 24 class hours. If you’re unsure whether this level is right for you, we recommend contacting the Foreign Language Department, as a more suitable course may be available for you.

• Use numbers from 1,000 to 10,000 and common time expressions
• Describe people using appropriate gender, number, and demonstrative forms
• Use the verbs dua (to want) and jap (to give), and ask about time
• Apply definite and indefinite noun forms in everyday conversation
• Learn about key events and figures in Albanian history, including Skanderbeg, the Declaration of Independence, and King Zog

Albanian Level 4 | Evenings

Albanian Level 4 (A1) is an Elementary Albanian course for students who have already studied some Albanian. It is recommended that you have previously studied Albanian Level 3 or a course of at least 36 class hours. If you’re unsure whether this level is right for you, we recommend contacting the Foreign Language Department, as a more suitable course may be available for you.

Our classes take place at our school in Covent Garden with qualified, experienced teachers.

Classes at IH London are dynamic and interactive as the emphasis is on spoken communication. Lessons are primarily taught in Albanian and include interactive activities like group work and role-plays to boost confidence and fluency. • Describe weather across different seasons
• Use common nouns and feminine forms in the nominative definite
• Express existence with ka (“”there is/are””) and use prepositions mbi (on) and nën (under)
• Use class 2 adjectives with correct agreement and linking articles
• Develop vocabulary related to climate, colours, and everyday descriptions
• Learn about Tirana, Shëngjin, Saranda, and Albania’s Mediterranean climate

Albanian Level 5 is an Elementary Albanian course for students who have already studied some Albanian. It is recommended that you have previously studied Albanian Level 4 or a course of at least 48 class hours.

Our Albanian language classes take place at our school in Covent Garden with a qualified, experienced teacher and fellow students. Evening language classes at IH London are dynamic and interactive as the emphasis is on spoken communication, which is achieved through lots of group work and role-plays. At the same time, there is systematic work on grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation, so that you can improve on all aspects of the language. Your teacher speaks in the target language throughout, so that you can refine your comprehension and listening skills.

Albanian Level 6 is an Elementary Albanian course for students who have already studied some Albanian. It is recommended that you have previously studied Albanian Level 5 or a course of at least 50 class hours.

Albanian Level 7 is an Elementary Albanian course for students who have already studied some Albanian. It is recommended that you have previously studied Albanian Level 6 or a course of at least 62 class hours.

Evening language classes at IH London are dynamic and interactive as the emphasis is on spoken communication, which is achieved through lots of group work and role-plays. Albanian Level 8 | Evenings

Albanian Level 8 is an Elementary Albanian course for students who are already in the process of learning Albanian. It is recommended that you have previously studied Albanian Level 7 or a course of at least 84 class hours. If you’re unsure whether this level is right for you, we recommend taking contacting the Foreign Language Department, as a more suitable course may be available for you.  

Our classes take place at our school in Covent Garden with qualified, experienced teachers.    

Classes at IH London are dynamic and interactive as the emphasis is on spoken communication. Lessons are primarily taught in Albanian and include interactive activities like group work and role-plays to boost confidence and fluency. Our courses help you use Albanian in everyday situations, while building core skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing.  

After Level 8, continue your learning with Level 9 and beyond. Progression is based on your class participation and self-study—there are no formal tests.

  • Buy tickets for a cultural show (prices, seats, dates, times) 
  • Use the genitive case with definite nouns 
  • Use the genitive case with indefinite nouns 
  • Understand and apply the main uses of the genitive case in Albanian 
  • Ask questions using “whose” 
  • Use genitive forms of demonstratives 
  • Use linking articles that modify a genitive noun 
  • Explore Gjirokastër and its cultural activities (including the National Folk Festival held once every four years) 
  • Identify Albanian musical instruments 
  • Learn about Albanian music
