- FAQs
Gentle Spanish Level 2 is a face-to-face course designed for students who have completed a beginners Spanish course and want to continue developing their Spanish at a relaxed, enjoyable pace — with more time to consolidate, more room to explore the language, and practical activities built into every lesson.
Over 8 weeks, you will cover the same content as our Spanish Level 2 evening course, using the same coursebook and reaching the same learning outcomes. The difference is the experience: longer sessions, a gentler rhythm, and real communicative tasks each week that bring the language to life — from describing places and talking about the weather, to shopping for clothes and expressing your preferences.
Lessons are warm, interactive, and led by a qualified, experienced teacher who speaks in Spanish throughout, helping you to refine your listening and comprehension skills as you build on the foundation you already have.

- learn in an immersive, face-to-face environment with a qualified, experienced teacher
- cover the full Spanish Level 2 syllabus at a more relaxed, sustainable pace
- benefit from practical activities, role-plays, and cultural moments built into every lesson
- build genuine confidence through more speaking practice and consolidation
- enjoy an afternoon format designed to fit comfortably into your week
This course is for students who have completed a beginners Spanish course and want to continue at a relaxed, confidence-building pace — with more time to absorb new grammar, practise speaking, and use Spanish in real-life situations.
It is a good fit for:
- adults who have completed Gentle Spanish Level 1 and want to continue at the same pace
- learners who have completed Spanish Level 1 or a course of at least 12 class hours and want a gentler next step
- people who found the evening Level 1 a little fast and want more consolidation time going forward
- learners who enjoy a sociable, interactive classroom with time for cultural exploration and practical tasks
- anyone whose schedule suits a weekday afternoon format
This course may be especially useful if you want to:
- build on your beginner foundations at a pace that feels comfortable and sustainable
- develop confidence describing places, talking about the weather, and handling shopping situations
- explore the richness of the Spanish-speaking world as part of your learning
- continue strengthening your grammar and vocabulary without feeling overwhelmed
How does this compare to our Spanish Level 2 evening course?
Both courses cover exactly the same content — Units 3 and 4 of Aula Internacional Plus A1 — and lead to the same learning outcomes. The difference is pace and format. Gentle Spanish Level 2 runs for 8 weeks with longer sessions and practical activities integrated into every lesson. The evening Level 2 covers the same material at a faster pace. Both are excellent — the right choice depends on how you learn best.
This course may not be the right choice if you prefer a faster pace. In that case, our Spanish Level 2 evening course may be more suitable.

Learning approach
Lessons are face-to-face, dynamic, and led by a qualified, experienced teacher who speaks in Spanish throughout. Every lesson combines coursebook work with a practical communicative activity — a role-play, a cultural moment, a speaking game, or a short presentation — designed to help you use Spanish in realistic and enjoyable situations.
Grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation are developed systematically alongside communicative practice, so you continue to improve on all aspects of the language.
The coursebook — Aula Internacional Plus A1, Units 3 & 4 — provides structure and supports your learning at home. If you completed Gentle Spanish Level 1 or the Spanish Level 1 evening course, you will already have the book.
Do I need to have studied Spanish before? Yes. This course requires that you have previously completed Spanish Level 1 or a course of at least 12 class hours. If you are unsure whether your previous experience is sufficient, please contact us and we will be happy to advise.
Do I need to buy a coursebook? This course uses Aula Internacional Plus A1 — the same book as Spanish Level 1. If you completed Gentle Spanish Level 1 or the Spanish Level 1 evening course, you will already have it. If not, the book is available to purchase from reception from your second lesson onwards.
How is this different from the Spanish Level 2 evening course? Both courses cover exactly the same content and lead to the same outcomes. Gentle Spanish Level 2 runs over 8 weeks with longer sessions, a more relaxed pace, and practical communicative activities built into every lesson. If you want to progress more quickly, the evening Level 2 may suit you better. If you want more time to consolidate and enjoy the language, this is the right choice.
Why does the teacher speak in Spanish throughout? Speaking in the target language is one of the most effective ways to develop your comprehension and listening skills. Your teacher will always make sure you understand — through gesture, visual support, and careful use of language — so you will never feel lost. This approach is standard across all IH London language courses.
What are the practical activities? Every lesson includes a practical communicative activity alongside the coursebook content — a role-play, a cultural moment, a speaking game, or a short presentation. These are designed to help you use Spanish in realistic, enjoyable situations and build confidence that goes well beyond the textbook.
Will I be speaking in class? Yes. Speaking and real communication are central to every lesson. The relaxed pace means you will have more time to practise, make mistakes without pressure, and feel genuinely confident in what you have learned.
What will I be able to do by the end of the course? By the end of the course, you will be able to describe places and the weather, shop for clothes and everyday objects, express your needs and preferences, and talk about the Spanish-speaking world — all in Spanish.
What happens after this course? After completing Gentle Spanish Level 2, you can continue to Gentle Spanish Level 3 to keep building your Spanish at the same pace, or move to our Spanish Level 3 evening course if you feel ready for a faster format.
Who is the course suitable for? The course is aimed at adults (18+) who have completed a beginners Spanish course and want to continue making practical, communicative progress in a face-to-face, weekday afternoon format at our school in Covent Garden.
