The Japanese Club is an intermediate to advanced face-to-face course designed for students who have been studying Japanese for some time and would like to continue developing their fluency and cultural awareness. It is suitable for learners who have covered grammar and vocabulary at approximately JLPT N3 level, as well as for students who have completed all Japanese course levels at IH London and wish to progress further.

Lessons take place in the classroom with a qualified and experienced teacher and a group of fellow students. The interactive sessions mirror a natural learning environment, with a range of engaging activities including vocabulary development, grammar review on the board, listening tasks and pair or group speaking practice. Students benefit from direct interaction and immediate feedback, helping them build confidence in using Japanese in real-life situations.

The course focuses on developing more natural and lively Japanese without relying on a single textbook. Lessons make use of authentic materials such as news reports, articles, TV advertisements, YouTube videos and social media content. There are many opportunities for discussion, allowing students to enjoy the lessons while learning language that is commonly used in everyday life in Japan.

Together with the teacher, students will also help decide the specific course content, ensuring lessons reflect the group’s interests and learning goals.
