Portuguese Level 21 (B1) is an Upper-Intermediate Portuguese course for students who are already in the process of learning Portuguese. Portuguese Level 21 requires that you have previously studied Portuguese Level 20 or a course of at least 240 class hours.

Our classes take place at our school in Covent Garden with qualified, experienced teachers and fellow students.

Classes at IH London are dynamic and interactive, with a strong focus on spoken communication. Lessons are taught primarily in Portuguese and include interactive activities such as group work and role-plays to help build confidence and fluency. The course also develops your grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, listening, reading, and writing skills for real-life use of the language.

By the end of your course, you should be able to: 

• Talk about the city you live in, the importance of urban spaces and why people need them
• Discuss the pros and cons of city versus country life
• Reflect on how weather influences daily life and behaviour in Portuguese-speaking countries
• Explore the fragility of the global village in today’s world
• Recount news stories and everyday events from the Lusophone world, presenting opinions and developing arguments
• Understand and begin using reported (indirect) speech

Portuguese Level 23 is an Upper-Intermediate course for students for students who have been studying the Portuguese language for quite some time and who are wanting to progress to a more advanced level. Portuguese Level 23 requires that you have previously studied Portuguese Level 22 or a course of at least 264 class hours. 

Our Portuguese language classes take place at our school in Covent Garden with a qualified, experienced teacher and fellow students. Evening language classes at IH London are dynamic and interactive as the emphasis is on spoken communication, which is achieved through lots of group work and role-plays. At the same time, there is systematic work on grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation, so that you can improve on all aspects of the language. Your teacher speaks in the target language throughout, so that you can refine your comprehension and listening skills.

Portuguese Level 24 is an Upper-Intermediate course for students for students who have been studying the Portuguese language for quite some time and who are wanting to progress to a more advanced level. Portuguese B2 Club is an Upper Intermediate course for students who have studied the Portuguese language to a fairly high level. It is recommended that you have previously studied Portuguese Level 25 or a course of at least 216 class hours. If you’re unsure whether this level is right for you, we recommend contacting the Foreign Language Department, as a more suitable course may be available for you.
