For any Arabic language students looking for extra resources to boost their comprehension skills outside of class, there are plenty of great YouTube channels out there which are full of insightful videos. Not sure where to start looking? Here are a few recommended channels.
Learn Arabic with Safaa
Want to revise vocabulary and grammar, and work on basic conversation? Check out the Arabic with Safaa series on Youtube. These cute videos are great for beginners and elementary level students and a good way of reinforcing what you’ve learnt in class. With topics such as introductions and days of the week, as well as grammar tutorials, the channel is great for extra materials.
Say it in Arabic
A great way to learn new words is to hear them used in context, and that’s exactly what Arabic teacher Colette does in her Say it in Arabic video series. She introduces learners to new vocabulary whilst describing different concepts and scenarios. This is a great way of making sense of new words and of getting them to sink in. The videos are short and simple and cover a range of different topics, from coffee and clothes to weather and nature.
Learn Arabic with Maha
For something really upbeat and entertaining, check out Learn Arabic with Maha. Maha hosts loads of videos covering different elements of the language such as expressions, vocabulary and grammar pointers, and her lively, bubbly personality means the videos are really encouraging for students.
Arabic Blooms
If you’re a fan of short stories, be sure to try the Arabic Blooms channel. It has lots of nice videos for learners, but we particularly like the stories. They are aimed at beginners and have subtitles in Arabic and English. Transcripts can also be downloaded from the Arabic Blooms website. Try them out!
Arabic Pod 101
Arabic Pod 101 is a beast of language learning resources, and their YouTube channel is also full of useful videos. It has a good range of grammar and vocabulary activities, Arabic script revision, and language explained in context. New videos are released regularly meaning that there’s always something interesting to look at.
Anas Bukhash
We love the #ABtalks channel, hosted by Anas Bukhash, an entrepreneur from the UAE. His videos consist of interviews with a wide range of fascinating individuals about a broad variety of topics, his aim being to ‘shine the spotlight on the raw side of celebrities, athletes, entrepreneurs and influencers as human beings’. There are lots of different interviews to chose from and many have English subtitles, meaning it’s more accessible for learners.
