At IH London the welfare of our students and their learning experience is a top priority for us. The current situation here in the UK is exceptional, and has lead to an extra-ordinary set of circumstances for us all. This does not mean, however, that our language learning needs to suffer. This unusual time has given us an opportunity to launch our new online classes via Zoom.

To join a course, students need:

• A reliable internet connection
• A desktop computer, laptop, tablet or smartphone
• A web camera on or attached to the device you are using
• An integrated microphone in the device you are using or an attached headset.
• The day before their course, students will be sent via email all the details you need to connect to the IH London Zoom classroom

Our aim is for our new virtual language classes to be a positive experience for all, and for them to emulate our face-to-face classes as much as possible. Via teacher screen-sharing, students are able to experience a live classroom environment. From covering grammar points on the ‘white board’ and vocabulary activities, to listening exercises, file sharing and ‘break-out rooms’ to practise speaking with classmates, we are confident that our students will be able to continue to enjoy their classes and improve their language skills. The courses follow the same teaching methodology as our face-to-face lessons so students can learn at the same pace without leaving the comfort of their home. Our teachers have all been newly trained to work in this virtual environment and are raring to go! Our Russian teacher David was one of the first to move online and reports;

I am sure we will get used to not being in the same physical room and the sight of students learning in the comfort and safety of their own home is inspiring.”

As more and more people are asked to work from home, we hope our online classes will provide some much needed respite and entertainment. In addition, we will be sending all students frequent Self Study emails with top tips on ways to keep their language learning going and to occupy themselves while at home.
