Our Practical Teacher course will introduce you to new techniques and approaches that you can use in the classroom.
The course is an activity-based programme and examples include:
Activities to develop listening, speaking, reading and writing
Selecting and exploiting materials
Activities for teaching pronunciation
Teaching using a task-based learning approach
Using student mistakes to aid understanding
Dealing with emerging language and reformulation
Introducing and practising new language: grammar, vocabulary, function
Integrating new technologies into language learning
Using songs, games and videos
Preparing students for examinations
Dictogloss and dictation activities
The course content will be chosen between your course group and tutor. You can include other topics not mentioned above.

Danny Norrington-Davies, CELTA and Delta Trainer
Danny started teaching English over 16 years ago in Botswana and gained his CELTA in the UK in 1995. He worked with Japanese volunteers in Malawi before returning to London to complete his Delta. He has taught in Argentina, South Africa and Thailand. Danny has been with IH London since 2007. He is a CELTA and Delta trainer and works on programmes at King’s College London. He is the author of a teaching methodology book, From Rules to Reasons, which was short listed for an ELTON award. He works on our partner courses at King’s College London.
The Practical Teacher Online course can be booked alone, or with an Online Level 6 Trinity Cert PT qualification. When studying with the Trinity Cert PT qualification, trainees will need to complete four additional assignments in order to gain their level 6 qualification.
